2406: Everywhere Poems

An Everywhere Poem: Same as It Always Is

I’m a child

among green,
leaves,
grass,
and Queen Anne’s lace.

Take a load off your mind,
child,
says the forest.

A man nods.
His dog shuffles up
a layer of leaves.

I’ve never seen
a nose so happy.

Mist freed
from a damp cloth sky.
It was sunny the other day.
Fish-and-chip weather
and battling gulls.

But that was yesterday.

Same as it used to be.
Same as it always is.

Nothing is truly broken.

Everywhere Poems don’t have a subject. They have a starting point and follow wherever attention leads. It’s — go for a walk and see where you end up.
