2306: Everywhere Poems

B&W dandelion seeds

An Everywhere Poem: A View Through Vaseline

Lilac blooms ‘tween
steel rails, click and plink,
luggage sways in the aisle,

his shoes relax at angles
on the seat opposite.
I glance away from the sign

“No feet on seats”.

Scented air:
Perfumed
sour sweat
and coffee.

Cantonese;
French;
Arabic.

Station announcement in English.

A woman nods off.
Jerks awake.

Mid June is juicy green,
ivy on the march
up and over fences.

Red warning:
heat —

it finds its way
through train windows
that don’t open.

A view of Sussex through Vaseline.

I tell myself
journey finished.

But I’m only human.

Fault Lines by Fyfe

Everywhere Poems don’t have a subject. They have a starting point and follow wherever attention leads. It’s — go for a walk and see where you end up.
