The Elements
I. Earth
earth
flung its
wind at twisted
bare trees. they creaked
under the bone bleached white
moon.
II. Water
rise
rippling floods
and set sail
on summer-heavy tides while
fires burnt the edge of
sleep.
III. Fire
lightning
does dance,
like high kicking
skirt swirling puppets, their
wooden shoes raucous with Thor’s
thunder.
IV. Air
wind,
that galloping
dance that ran
with summer, singing choruses
with tolling bells, a billowing
roar.
