17 August: for K’s Petite Pen

painting by Julia Rigby of ferry boat in harbour

Vista

There’s a vague pointlessness
to rushing when you know
there’s another ferry coming.

So we admire the view.

The sun stabs at our skin,
as a mother, arms white as milk,
shouts caution at her children.

  1. That unhuried vacation vibe Is juxtaposed so we’ll be the stabbing sun. I love how you play with caution in this brevity piece. Bravo! Thanks for writing to this image with me. 👏👏😁
