Ten Things of Thankful

AI art. the words Ten Things of Thankful on a white background with a bouquet of white tulips

Rain, rain, hail and thunder as temperatures dropped to normal for a few days. I baked bread early one morning, froze the loaves to eat later, and then we had a power cut for nearly four hours.

1) A good crop of apples seems likely this year. “June Drop” will thin out the apples on crowded branches. Nature knows best.

2) Always thankful that my fishmonger is good for a chat while he weighs out my ‘fishy Friday’  purchase.

3) The scent of this particular old fashioned climbing rose is quite simply intoxicating. And it’s very pretty, too.

4) My favourite flower. Always and without exception. My pink peonies.

5) Thankful that the shop where I bought my husband’s Oura Ring agreed to exchange it for one with a battery life as advertised. No fuss. They just replaced it. They have a customer for life in me now.

6)  The dry weather is stressing the plants, which means the ants are ‘farming’ green fly. Green fly produce a sugary sap which the ants use as food. I’m thankful for a bit of washing-up liquid and water in a spray bottle to save my plants.

7)   Thankful that Peder staked up my peonies after the rain and wind finished. That storm swept eastward and played havoc with the French Open.

8)    Thankful that my friend, Mike, was feeling well enough to join his dog, Hector, for a walk. Hector forces Mike outside for fresh air and a bit of exercise. Mike grumbles, but that’s okay.

9)  Denise’s Six Sentence Story prompts and the Liturgy that I write for it. Brigid and Felreil are in Aries, France, this week and next.

10) Thankful for a walk. Level ground; no roots to trip over.
