5 Oct: Ten Things of Thankful

AI art. the words Ten Things of Thankful on a white background with a bouquet of white tulips
view of Seven Sisters and Beachy Head, aka White Cliffs of Dover, from the ferry heading to France.

I am still away in the Rhône Alps, so photos are a minimum. I might make a post for them after I’m back home.

  1. Thankful for the view of Seven Sisters and Beachy Head (aka the white cliffs of Dover) from an offshore aspect whilst in the ferry to France. This was at sunrise so the light was a bit defused.
  2. To see Chartres Cathedral again. It’s more beautiful than I remember possibly because memory is so precious.
  3. A sunny day and a long drive through the volcanic hills into Provence.
  4. Avignon: to see the remains of the palace of the popes; it is not just stone — it is petrified conflict, cold stone where faith fled Rome and rooted into the rock.
  5. Thankful for the shop assistant who brought me a chair to sit on after a very hard fall caused by collapsed cobbles.
  6. Unbelievably grateful that I didn’t break a leg or hip or ankle. My elbow is iffy and it’s a mysterious shade of something that shouts “untouchable”, but day by day movement is returning but the bruise is getting larger.
  7. Thankful for a bag of frozen ratatouille to put on my arm and elbow.
  8. For mussels and frites and profiteroles — 2 nights in a row!! Heaven.
  9. Shared joy.
  10. Six Sentence Story: sourced in the Women’s Toilet at a rest stop outside Sur Fleury.

  2. Dude! Watch the <delete>hobble</delete> cobblestone! Were you running in your Louboutins again? (ha ha)

Would offer unsolicited observation on banged elbows and/or bruising but I would do so only from the perspective of one future along the Chronopath of Life and, would rather not be misunderstood.

But! lol I have found, once the immediate discomfit has passed and the Tequila Sunrise special effects show up… one way I’ve found to hasten the healing is once the discoloration is at maximum and provided you don’t want to brandish the multi-hued mark as ‘A Mature and not fad-driven Adult’s tattoo* occasional light massage of the bruised area seems to help.

Watch the ground, gravity is a disaffected lover the older we get.

    1. I packed along every medicinal eventuality except for an arm sling and arnica cream. We bought ibuprofen and the sling — nobody understood arnica.

If I’d been wearing Louboutins, I’d have left a better impression on the cobbles. 😁

  6. Loved the picture of the Seven Sisters – the lighting made it almost a painting! Sorry to hear about your fall and hope you are recovered now, I wonder if you can get Witchazel in France – always speeds the bruise coming out.
Thank you again for bringing me into Ten Things of Thankful Misky…
