The Goatherd 

We called her the goatwoman.
Kids can be far too literal. 
Goats, she told me, are clever. 

And I'm thinking Bill Grogan's Goat, 
those red shirts ate off the line, 
barfed up, and flagged down a train.

And as I reminisce on kiddy songs,
a goat, just off my line of sight, 
ate the goatwoman's garden hose.
