5 August: Twiglet 290

B&W image of moon over the sea

On the Hottest Day of the Year

It’s round as a melon
or my shoulders.
Feels ancient in my hands.
Long enduring as that winter
four years ago.
A snowball –
we keep it in the freezer.
Strong as a rock and
light as wind through a dream.
And we take it out, and
oooooh and ahhhh over it,
like I said,
on the hottest day of the year.

  2. That image is magical, with the gold and silver on the water. When things get that hot things get real, real quick.

  3. We did that once for our children… saved some snow from winter.
We had an awful blizzard one year. There was enough to make a snow cave!
And a wall along the two car length drive to make a tapering ice chunk wall 6′ base to maybe 4′ to 5′ high!
