13 May: A Little Conversation

A Little Conversation

I am sitting
on the patio .
A cup of coffee.
Morning sun.

A magpie is
on the fence,
talking to me.

I don’t know
what he’s saying,
but something ‘s
playing on his mind.

  5. Metal lid of a bin formed a concave, enough for water to collect. A sparrow baths in it. The human noticed from the house. Later the human needs do something beyond the garden gate, where the bin is kept. On the way back home the human empties the lid of the water so it won’t rust. The sparrow comes flying down from a nearby tree, scolding the human, demanding the water be put back. True story.
