A SWAN: UNTITLED
a slap on the water,
on the air, lifting,
here a slap and there,
wings white, snowy and down,
here where their necks arch,
air caressing its down.
oh fingered webs,
oh beating white rush,
here beating, there over
the loosening ripples
of a lake’s brooding broth.

Moi aussi! Aren’t swans so romantic, the way their necks are demi-heart shaped.😊

Have you ever been nipped on the leg by one? They become less romantic after such an encounter. They’re really strong! I tend to give them a lot of space.

No, fortunately. One of my dogs used to kill them. She would grab them behind the neck and shake them. Very efficient and humane too! 😂

Very. Funny though, I’ve no problem with spiders or any other creepy crawly, but a rat will stop me stiff in my tracks.

I think there’s a danger with rats, though, of all the nasties they carry. And they will bite if provoked. We had some in the loft recently and I had no qualms about laying opoison up there.

Nor would I. You can’t have them up in the loft. They chew through wiring and can cause fires up there. Last year they chewed through the hose to the washer fluid in my car, and drank it!
