Laundry Day
Hand into his pocket, pulled it inside out,
and she found the note she’d written him.
One small jar
of peanut butter,
please,
to replace the one
you emptied –
This is just to say it’s
a pity that you
didn’t tell me,
because
my toast was just
a smear of jam.
Love you more than William Carlos Williams
loves his plums.

Oh, Misky! You know I loves me some spin on Williams! Can’t tell you how many times I’ve remixed those plums. LOVE this.

Lol, too true in my experience, love the conjunction between full and empty and smear.
