Miz Quickly’s Day 21: Repurpose

A Poem Starting with a Line by Stephen Yenser

Drip

Nervy, sparrow-like,
hair receding,
watery eyes,
milky brown,
tinny squeal in one ear,
hooked nose
     like a hose that’s dripping,
thickened wrist,
her watch stopped ticking,
she’s counting days,
ignores the years,
a small child’s voice
     in her head she hears.

  1. A lovely poem.
I like to think that we all still have a child inside us. Some of us seem to access it easier than others though!

  3. The woman in the photo looks like one of my grandmothers…
The verse reminds me also of her later years.
Especially when she thought her grand-daughter was her daughter.

Aging can be an issue. When we can only live in the past, because that past has become our present.
