It's Still Life

1. Thankful that I’m still being sent recipes (prior to publication) from America’s Test Kitchen to test. This week’s was delicious. They aren’t always. A Chicken Caesar Wrap.

2. Temperatures returned to normal, and I’m outdoors and breathing fresh air again.

3. I love the way hay is baled into spiral rounds. It’s harvest time, and it’s early because of the drought. 

4. Trees are dropping leaves faster than I can rake them up. Thankful that Peder helped. 

5. Thankful that the oven is fixed. The fan heating coil sort of blew up. All good and working again. 

6. The bank manager popped by for an annual chat. Brought us a big box load of plums from his orchard. Lovely, so … 

7. …we made plum jam. Yum! Fabulous in yogurt. 

8. And at last — we saw a wee bit of rain, although there was more thunder than rain. 

9. Thankful for all the work she did this summer, pollinating, and starting the cycle of creating food for us to eat. Four red-tailed bumblebees died that day. The heat was too much for them. I wrote a poem for her. 

10. Ever so thankful for the Poetry Slam at the Six Sentence Cafe & Bistro, and I learned how to make an audio file, too!
