0108: Journal of Thoughts

drawing of a hand holding the earth

Shifting

Blackberries
in the hedgerows,

a month early.
Again.

And still,
there’s a man
who says
these changes
are the greatest
con ever.

Meanwhile:

Canada burns,
Spain burns,
France burns,
Crete burns,

Wales smokes,
Suffolk
takes flame,

and sixty thousand
press against a border,
spill into Ceuta,

entering
what we still call
safe.

The berries ripen.
The fires answer.

And we
argue with weather.

  2. I texted my daughter to ask how she was doing with the heat and air quality. She texted back, said she was ok, but the world is burning. 😢

    1. The world is truly burning, and if it’s not by flame, it’s by temperament.

    2. May I ask, Liz, is she on my side of the ‘pond’?

      1. You may. She’s on mine, 30 minutes drive south, across a long bridge over the Mississippi. 🙂
