1906: Everywhere Poems

drawing of a hand holding the earth

An Everywhere Poem: Rain-Streaked

downcast.
sodden
as a pouting toddler.

I shake the rain
from the peonies —

icy pink
and dejected.

he texts:
did you hear that?

yes,
I reply,

it’s thunder.

I grab my phone,

snap a photo
of thunder.

switch to video

and wait
for the next flash
of lightning.

we’ve lost power.

same as it will be
same as everywhere

Everywhere Poems don’t have a subject. They have a starting point and follow wherever attention leads. It’s — go for a walk and see where you end up.

    1. It’s hotting up, Pete. I’m in London on Monday, and it’s going upwards of 30C.

      1. I know, Misk. I was out today and it was already hot! I’m thankful I’m not out again until Mon or Tue, and that’s only Sal so I can get in and out early.

  3. When I lived in the Midwest- we got hellacious thunder and lightning- same in the south- but here on the east coast hardly ever. I do so miss it sometimes….
