1706: dVerse Quadrille

granny speaking with a wolf by a fireplace

Mythic

An old woman tells a story
while rain taps the window.

The children lean in closer.

The wolf is gone, she says,
though the forest remains.

The facts have long since
vanished,

but the myth remains —
sitting by the fire
warming his furry paws.

  2. Misky, I like how your poem shows the wolf living on in stories by the fire even after the real facts are gone. 🐺

  4. I LOVE these lines, so much:

“The wolf is gone, she says,
    though the forest remains.”

Oh, MAN. So much there. The darkness. The lingering fear. The fir-feathered hope.
