Dan’s Thursday Doors opened the door on my love of doors of all sorts. I’ve trawled through my photos and found a few to share. Bushboy (Brian Dodd) also shares photos of doors from his his journeys.

  1. Thank you for the wonderful photo, dear Marilyn! When did I last stand in awe before it? 40 years ago? The gate looked different back then, just wood, brown, weathered, no paint. (Actually, I could also show some gates from my last trip to China, but I wasn’t sure if the “Thursday Door Project” follows certain rules.) Warm spring greetings!

    1. And very happy spring wishes to you, too, Friedrich. The rules are loose and cover anything having to do with doors (I’ve even posted thresholds without doors because doors are entrances to my mind). I’d love to see your gates, and I’m sure that Dan would love to see them, too.

That’s my Peder in the photo. He’s 190cm (6’3″), so that gives you an idea of scale. If the architects of the Middle Ages wanted to imprint the concept that God thinks you’re a wee-itty-bitty-thing, then Rouen Cathedral succeeded.

      1. Ha, ha, yes, Kafka (The Castle) also clearly conveyed this idea to K., the surveyor 🙂
