A CHILD OF DRYADS
she faces storms
like rigging in a north wind
still
calm
cloth drawn taut
she watches waves
water that once
dragged her under
she remembers the taste
the sky above it
bitter,
unmoved
dragons in the water —
white-scaled,
pebbles gasping
into mist
she knows
what lives below the waves
breaks on shore
and keeps her footing
where the ground still answers
