1203: Ten Things of Thankful

ten things of thankful, muddy yellow boots

It’s all about Sahara dust in the air this week — it’s not joke, so my Ten Things are in disordered order.

10) Thankful for a walk this morning. Sahara dust cleared overnight with rain, and the sun found its way through clouds.

9) Thankful for Denise’s weekly Six Sentence Story prompt. Here’s mine for this week, and here’s the Liturgy/mind-mapping that forms the basis for this week’s Six Sentences.

8) Thankful that we’ve not unwrapped the outside tap of its insulating jacket because the temperatures are dropping below 0℃ again this weekend.

Thursday’s Doors, where every Thursday a sizeable group of people share photos of doors. It’s a hobby, and it doesn’t involve kitting needles or postage stamps.

6) Thankful to borrow my husband’s telephoto lens for my old Canon in the middle of the night and take a photo of the moon shrouded in that awful Saharan dust.

5) Thankful the sun appeared and burnt off all the fog. Most of that haze is dust.

4) Thankful that I caught sight of a red fox trotting down the road. Foxes are a common sight around here.

3) Thankful for a big cast iron pot for emptying leftovers from the fridge into it. Soup for dinner that night.

2) Grateful in these worrying times for a good laugh; two male pigeons about to fight over a lady pigeon. It’s that time of year.

1) I planted out new dahlia bulbs, four new bare root roses in pink, white, peach colours, and in a few months I’ll be thankful for the blossoms brightening the garden. Also treated the soil to a feast of bone meal.

  1. My daughter once asked, “why’s that pigeon giving the other one a piggy-back?”

  2. What a great list, aside from the scary Sahara dust and dropping temps. Your soup pot looks wonderful–soup is good for body, mind, soul and spirit. And your photos of birds lift the heart. Take good care of YOU.

  3. What brilliant colors for the beginning of spring in (10). The dust in the sky is dense but it creates a picturesque effect in the night sky. Beautiful photos Misky! May you enjoy a good week ahead.
