1 Dec: Journal of Thoughts

underwater image, resplendent with many small, silver fish. Maybe minnows. The bottom is white sand, and the varying hues of blue from lighter to darker.

Senryu
a flash of silver
minnows argue like old men
always over nought.

Haiku
white sand, shifting light,
a prayer of small silver fish.
the deep blue answers.

Senryu
they scatter like thoughts
too many to name or hold
but still, I listen

Haiku
silver threads of light
weave through silence and shadow—
a school drifts deeper

  1. Reminds me of summer mornings at the lake as a child. Chasing minnows in cold water, shore surrounds shadowed still, before Mom hollers that breakfast is ready.

  2. You are just a poetry writing machine= these are all lovely! But this is def my favorite- a flash of silver
    minnows argue like old men
    always over nought.

    1. It’s a brilliant phrase, but I can’t take credit for it, Violet — my dad used to say that all the time, changing it up between old men and old women.

  3. Such a beautiful pairing of words and sound. You’ve outdone yourself, Misky! So descriptive, and yet such meaning behind the words too. ❤
