Day 07 NovPAD Challenge

The Architecture of a Moment

Notes: Rooted in the oldest English tradition, Anglo-Saxon accentual verse follows the rhythm of breath and heartbeat rather than syllable or rhyme, where meaning is carried by cadence, image, and pause.

The Architecture of a Dream

days that wither into night,
dreams that ache to wake —

a patchwork heart
stitching love to love,
and wound to wound.

a garden of scars,
wild root grafted
to bitter fruit,
old dreams to new.

and I have come to know
some hearts never heal.

and I have come to know
hunger is usually thirst.

  1. I would like to think all hearts do eventually heal- we just do not always recognize them. Beautiful verse,

    1. I tend to think that we forgive others more easily than we forgive ourselves.

  2. It will be hard to choose the poems you will submit – glad I am not the one choosing!

Btw, I am also glad I stopped soundtracking your ink. It was my privilege, no doubt… but it is fascinating to witness the music you accompany your ink with – a map of your own topography… as it should be.

    1. Hmm — well, heck, and here I was thinking… 😂!

Your soundtrack choices were brilliant; a few of mine are almost there, but as Violet says from time to time, the feel of my song choice doesn’t match the poem.
