Cold Fire
Senryū
Bare branches claw up —
The sky bleeds its wounds in hues.
A cold, lonely prayer.
Haiku
Winter branches trace
moon’s veiled, burning palette —
night’s silent, cold fire.

冬の枝は
月のベールに包まれた燃えるようなパレットを描き
夜の静かで冷たい炎を描きます。
I often like to listen haiku in Japanese, so I load them to a translator… it would be better if I used an advanced AI voice model but still does the trick.
Your ink of this genre does more than justice… it echoes the essence of this art form ( one that may seem easy, yet is anything but).

Good afternoon. N.
This is such a brilliant idea — I raced off to listen at Google Translate. I’ve never thought to do this. I’m going to see if AI can audio-translate this one.
I enjoy writing to this form; its strict constraints make it a challenge (and I sometimes cheat and pronounce words (like fire) as one syllable. There’s a difference between American and British English pronunciation, I feel entitled to bounce between the two. (grinning)
You’re welcome ☺️
