16.10: Ten Things of Thankful

words: Ten Things of Thankful on the left with autumn veg and fruit on the right side
  1. My car is ready for freezing temperatures, driving rain, sleet, snow, flooded roads, tree branches strewn across the road — I am thankful for winter tyres. And 4-wheel drive.
  2. I dare the most sceptical and cold-adverse among us to deny that autumn colour isn’t worth a few extra layers of clothing. I am thankful for a new set of M&S HeatGen thermals for morning walks in the forest.

3. For those last few leaves that cling on for goodness-only-knows-why.

4. Heirlooms: a well-seasoned cast iron skillet. Thanks, Mum.

  1. Mostly good news on the annual health check-up and meds review. Sometimes perfection isn’t the right goal, living is.
  2. Six Sentence Stories: The Book of 27, and Brigid is back.
  3. For the exquisite gift of feeling useful.

8. Homemade granola that’s beats any of the store-bought.

9. Thankful for the road home.

10. Thankful that’s not my house traveling down the motorway.

  2. What a lovely list, Misky–you can really tell a lot about a person by what they’re grateful for.

  5. I worked in the call-centre at Damart near here (one of my least favourite jobs ever) they famously made the thermal underwear for the conquest of Everest!

    1. Call-centres must be such a tough job, dealing with only endless complaints.

  6. Oh no – it was sales – to an older clientelle. I got on fine with the callers and although they wanted you to be able to chat in the pauses that were inevitable, they timed your calls to the fraction of a second and that’s what I couldn’t stand…

    1. How long did they allow you for each call?

      1. I can’t remember exactly/ but not enough – in any case, many customers rang in order to talk to someone out of loneliness…
