Faith in resonance, sight through storm

Thundershade — Faith in resonance, sight through storm

The night was blind-thick with silence and hidden behind clouds — then came thunder crawling through the walls, low and certain, and she knew the storm was already standing on the roof.

She didn’t need eyes to prove it; the pines groaned, and the wind whistled as it caught the windowsills, howling so loud it carried the storm straight into her bones — she stepped outside and turned her face into the wind.

Eyes closed, not in denial of her dissolving sight but in trust, listening for the storm that promised vastness as it rolled its cathedral through her bones.

She understood the sky — not only as a source of light, but a presence, a weight upon skin, a changeable mood of air, a promise of violence or peace against the ear — and she thought: faith is not always a vision; sometimes it is language to fill ones soul.

“The storm is here,” she whispered; it was the simplest of choices: to believe the unseen.

And Felreil murmured: “Faith is the sky you feel in the bones, not the one you see with the eyes.”

  1. I like Felreil’s description of faith. I also like the calm through the storm.

  2. Not being one to take many things on faith alone- I love the description you offered here- sometimes it is language to fill ones soul. I will have to sit with that one…

  4. funny about word choice (the spray paint of the obsessively creative) it’s the little sets of words that make the difference, to wit:

“…thunder crawling through the walls, low and certain“*

    *italics mine, those three words

    cool
