9 Sept: dVerse Quadrille

ai image. full moon, night sky with lots of stars

So Much Between

So much depends
on the moon’s pale hinge,
the way night

folds its dark velvet
over the day’s
sharp edges.

So much is still held
in the soft hush —
the unsaid,
the almost,

the breath between
goodnight
and a dream’s
first tender sigh.

    1. I love writing to De’s quadrille prompts. They are surprisingly tricky.

  1. Ohhhh. So, SO good, Misky. The more I read WCW’s original, the more I “get” it, and love it. This is a perfect tribute. “moon’s pale hinge” is FANTASTIC, both visually and metaphorically.

  3. 5-Star as usual! I’m fascinated by your gift to put visual actions in things like waves “breathing” and night “folding”. Is “personification” the term I’m looking for? (my brain left the office early today)
