9 Sept: A Six Sentence Story

The Book of 27: #19 – Starvow: The Unspoken Vow

The Cartography of Brigid

In the hush before sunrise, Felreil remembers her — not as a person, but as light.

A quiet kind of love — like the sound of a wave inhaling before it breaks, or rain sighing against warm skin — the kind that makes you think, Oh, I love that, without knowing why.

It was an early-winter dawn of an unspent year; from the old oak, he watched as Brigid lit a candle in her east-facing window — not out of habit, but as breath, a silent greeting sent across the mist into the widening distance between them.

He remembers the morning she found a black river stone on her doorstep, smooth and warm, still curved from the shape of his wing — and how, when she held it, it settled perfectly into the quiet space she always kept open for him.

He loved that space — that unspoken, unclaimed territory — and filled it daily with every colour of thought, every shade of her quietness.

And now, perched between both worlds, Felreil reflects on the candle’s flicker and thinks: not all glyphs are inked — some are written in light, held in stones, and felt in the silent places where two souls yield to orbit.
