19.05.25 dVerse Quadrille

ai art. haunted house in grey tones and brown, tan and white.

Between Pendulum Swings

The house settles into its bones.
Floorboards whisper hush
to rusted nails that remember.
Even the clock’s heartbeat
dims to a moth’s last flutter.

You, love, are the quiet
between pendulum swings—
a pause so deep it forgets
how to return.
How to wake.

  6. I’m pleased to see you at the Poets Pub, Marilyn, and with a haunted house quadrille! It is indeed atmospheric. I love the ominous pendulum swings, that hint at the ‘clock’s heartbeat’, but it’s the house settling into its bones that hooked me, and the direct address to the quiet in the second stanza.
