In no particular order:
1. Thankful for the Waze app, so we knew we weren’t exceeding the speed limit (because the instrument cluster went black, along with no satnav, and no tik.tik.tik sound from the turn indicator) on my husband’s car.
2. That the mechanics could plug (his) car into a computer, and a simple software update fixed the issue of the instrument cluster going black — sort of like the Blue Screen of Death, except that it’s black.
3. That (his) car is still under warrantee. My car would never dream of being so stroppy.
4. Nature’s magic in my garden — a Broad-bodied Chaser (Libellula depressa), an enormous dragonfly. Its body is about the length and width of my thumb, and it is very very fast! Old Norse tradition says they are symbols of courage, strength, and happiness, and were harbingers of truth and good fortune from the fae. Vikings also etched images of these monster dragonflies on their ships to carry luck and fast wind with them.

5. My husband’s blood tests all came back within normal levels.
6. A roast chicken that fed us through various inventions for three meals.
7. Bees enjoying the chives. I wonder if honey from chive blossoms have a hint of allium flavour.

8. A peaceful and personally uneventful week. With the world in such chaos at the moment, a bit of calm seems a rarity, and it’s a reminder that I can rise above it.
9. My garden this week (mid-May). The Apostle Trees, which mark the ancient route to the our local village church (built ca 950AD), are now in full leaf behind the garden fence. Aphids are a bit of a nuisance this year, and there’s a lack of ladybirds to munch on them, but the birds are busy eating them. No snails or slugs to speak of, but that’s because everything is so dry right now (yes, we’re officially in drought conditions).

10. A Spotify playlist specifically curated for writing The Book of 27 and future Brigid’s Journal Six Sentence Stories.
