6 March: Ten Things of Thankful

A solitary figure sits in a small boat, gently tethered to a dock extending from a simple house on a small, isolated island, all rendered in delicate pencil strokes. A bare tree stands beside the house against a backdrop of a faintly sketched sun and water, evoking a sense of quiet solitude and introspection.

In no particular order:

1. I am thankful for 5 days of sub-zero temperatures (Celsius) and crystal-clear sunny skies.

2. Shrove Tuesday, also known in the UK as Pancake Day. Blueberry pancakes, bacon, and maple syrup. Unfortunately, a headache and my tummy couldn’t stomach the idea, so Shrove Tuesday was moved to Wednesday, and Wednesday was designated as Tuesday (there are no coincidences).

3. Soup. Any soup. But not cold.

4. Longer days. 17:45 and it’s still light.

5. Serialised Six Sentence Stories (a 2-parter this week) prompted by Denise at SSB&C

6. Thankful that my husband’s efforts to reorganise my kitchen pantry—while I was out getting a breath of fresh air—was not too difficult to put back into sensible order.

7. A handful of raisins when you need a snack.

8. Yellow, white and purple crocuses still blooming.

9. A fireplace on a cold night.

10. Laughter: number 10 refers back to number 2.

P.S. love the imagery at the top of your List.

    1. Thank you, Clark, glad that you like the image. Yes, Pancake Day is one of the last vestiges of the “Empire” I think.

  3. My son once reorganized my kitchen pantry. I still can’t find things.

  4. We just changed the clocks forward last night, so our days will stay lighter longer now, too. (Of course, that means it’s darker in the mornings when I walk, but that will change as summer approaches.) We aren’t quite to the flowers blooming stage here, but I’m looking forward to that!

    1. Our clocks don’t “spring” forward until the end of March. I can’t wait!

  5. Shrove Tuesday here is also Mardi Gras, with much more than just pancakes. It’s amazing all the different ways there are to celebrate.

Blooms and more daylight are a definite thankful here, too.

    1. Thank you, Mimi. Our clocks don’t jump forward until the end of the month. I shall be patient…
