22 Nov: Ten Things of Thankful

words "10 THING OF THANKFUL" with pink peonies

In no particular order:

1. I am thankful to find a crown of turkey to feed 10 in the midst of November (turkey isn’t usually seen fresh in British supermarkets in November because we don’t do Thanksgiving in UK), but I found one … and it’s hard as a rock in the freezer.

2. And then I was lucky enough to find a leg of lamb on sale 20% off usual price, so that sitting in the freezer also … because  …

3. Youngest son, his wife, and my two of my four grandchildren are coming for Christmas and New Year … and I am so so so thankful that they’ll be here.

4. While I was in London on Tuesday, walking (whilst looking down because the wind and rain across London Bridge was so bitterly cold), I noticed these autumn leaves on the sidewalk and the colours were just beautiful.

5. Thankful for road graters with sand and salt to keep the roads from freezing over. It’s -3ºC.

6. My special Tuesday treat: sushi for lunch.

7. Denise’s Six Sentence Story prompt. Mine is a trifecta (again) this week with something unexpected started next week! A route mapped by locations in classic literature, a bit history and a road trip.

8. The Wakefield Doctrine Easy Peasy Questionnaire. It might change your view of people you’ve known all your life … or it might not.

9. I am ever so thankful for him reading my assignment, particularly when it’s something as esoteric as Dökkálfar and Norse mythology.

10 … and finally, for every last one of you, but who’s counting.

    1. That is such a perfect choice for Dökkálfar. What I love about these guys is that Nordic tradition doesn’t treat them as evil or malevolent, but rather the balancing point to “light elves” – they’re an equilibrium. Thank you for soundtracking this one.

    1. 4. I was quick to take it so as to not be pegged-out as a tourist.

      5. That’s Celsius (sounds more impressive than it is), and that weather front was a precursor (she says cursing) to a walloping storm that’s flooded the lowlands and snapped off several massive limbs from the ancient trees behind the house. All calm this morning though. Yeah. Time to clear-up nature’s mess.

      • to your * I had a Bullwinkle spoon as a kid. Boris and Natasha were my favourite.
