9 Nov: Poem-a-Day Challenge

an English church from an aerial view

It’s Weird …

… the mimicry,
they come: the man and wife,
widow, soldier, mother and child.

How obedient
they are to a righteous song,
to an upright priest with wings bent.

The mimicry,
of incantations as prayer. The magic
in faith, the hand of Intention robed.

The mimicry,
of a choir singing to heaven’s
boundless innumerable stars.

God’s alter east to the rising sun.
Patron saints to north and south.
Enter all the setting sun to west.

The mimicry.

East for air.
South for fire.
West for water.
North for earth.

And the sparks flew where the wheels burnt.

I’ll step off my soapbox now and return to nature stuff.
