5 October: Ten Things of Thankful

words "10 THING OF THANKFUL" with pink peonies

In no particular order:

1. A whetstone and sharpening skills1.
2. Butternut squash soup with coconut milk and Benedictine.

5. Camber Sands Beach and free public toilets3.
6. Sunflowers on a cloudy day.

7. A video chat with a precious friend.
8. Headaches that go away.
9. Roses setting buds again.

10. The comforting company of a crow.

a crow that visits me every day, walks with me in garden, and looks into the window.

1 I sharpen all of my knives weekly the old fashioned way. 2 British English = jumper = sweater = US English. 3 I admit it: toilets are few and far between in the UK, and certainly one at the beach is a gift even though there’s no loo roll.

  1. 2. I’ll try making that.

    4. Walked there last week!

    5. A free car park there would be nice too.

  2. 2. Add 1T medium curry powder (or less if you’re so included). 5. Can’t think of anywhere a person can park free anymore – even Waitrose carpark is pay ‘n display (although it’s refundable at the til). And now Worth Abbey is considering a fee to park. Ridiculous.

    1. Thanks for 2.

Agree with 5! I have to pay an annual fee to park outside my flat!

probably the best form of fiction-writing, in no way a comment on the reality of the Grat Items, rather in the sense of true story-telling…

  5. I’m planning a beach day (with my 6 grandchildren) on Friday. From your photo, it looks like your beach day was contemplative and peaceful. Somehow, I doubt my day will allow for such quiet thoughts. Thank you for sharing your lovely photos!
