100 Words and a Crow

“She likes a clean house,” says the woman with blue tint hair, “so she hires a woman. Her husband hires one, too,” and a nervous giggle runs itself through the queue.

We’re at the post office, collecting pensions, buying stamps, etc.

And I say, “It was my grandmother’s birthday yesterday, and the woman says, “She must be really old.” I nod, “Yes, she’s 134. She died 51-years ago.”

I break the silence before it starts. “There was a crow in my garden all yesterday, and the woman says, “That would be your grandmother.”

“Coincidence!” says the post office clerk, “Next!”
