10 Sept: RDP Argument

ai art: girl looking at the night sky with houses in the background, primitive art

Back Then …

A night out for me
was sitting on that battered
wooden bench,

the one dedicated to Mrs Bruce Allen,
up on the bluff overlooking the bay,

and I’d whisper wishes
on falling stars, and tuck myself
under your arm when I shivered
from the evening chill,

but you only wanted to argue –
‘Mondale should’ve won the election.’

And just then another star fell…
I made a wish that you’d just
accept that you voted for a loser.

  1. Politics is always a dangerous … or boring ,,, subject depending who is talking and who is listening! Your words remind me of Ray Bradbury’s. I go grocery shopping with the ghost of Mark Twain: https://rolandyeomans.blogspot.com/2024/09/the-boy-is-in-path-of-hurricane-again.html
