I have always been fascinated with “last things.” What will be the last sunset I will see, the last bird on the wing, the last goodbye to a friend?
Being a poet yourself, I thought you might be interested in the fact the famous poet Emily Dickinson is known to have said “I must go in; the fog is rising” as her last words, which could be interpreted as reflecting on the idea of “last things” – signifying the finality of her departure.
