A Perfect Art

knee-deep,
wading a chalk stream for crayfish,

boys reining in summer days,
summer shorts and t-shirts

haven’t seen the skyline
for days through the trees,

the weight of water skims their skin,
chills their hands

and makes for memories
and graffiti on walls later.
