A Journal of Thoughts from Last Week

The I In It

Dauntless Geometries

and what of brick that's redder
as brick than the soil it's from

or winged seeds that take root
and grow into ancient oak

or bee-buzzing flowers of May
that will become autumn's fruit

or a short word that will
become a long enduring pain,

and what of that star which
morning claims as its own

or my scratch paper sonnets,
I have rare hope for those.

    1. That’s the worst; to forego sleep for a word that’s slipped the mind who sent it. The worst.
