20 February: dVerse Quadrille

AI Art: nightfall in a village. Winter

Winter

Leaves blow
and gather at the foot of the wall.
Night is silverly silenced wind,
except for streetlights
touched by electricity’s singing.

Houses are silent.
We’ve withdrawn from the rain.
Closed curtains. Pulled chairs to the fire.
We know this wind only as winter.

  6. Your portrait of winter is palpable, Marilyn, with night as ‘silverly silenced wind’ and
‘streetlights touched by electricity’s singing’. The scene in the second stanza is so familiar, and the artwork is darkly beautiful.

  8. Ray Bradbury would have loved both your image and verse. I could smell burning leaves in the wind. 🙂

  10. I love how yo create that sense of the wind and weather in general and the withdrawing to welcome space by the fire, the contrast touches feeling so well.
