14 February: for 6SS

AI art: child's drawing of a sailboat with a white sail on the blue ocean
AI MJ

Tides

Her eyes
have more and more
of the past in them.
Shadows
that cover the cold ocean
with healing indifference.

She wants to
take to the shifting winds
and lift anchor,
be washed out
on a tide. Washed out
across the sandbanks
in a small boat with a taut sail.

It’s a picture an innocent heart might draw.

And there she would
find herself, and unleash
truth’s implacable irony.

  2. Nice lines: “She wants to
    take to the shifting winds
    and lift anchor,”

The reference to the wind reminds me of John 3:8 and how it might appeal to her.

  5. Is indifference really healing? Much food for thought there.

    1. Thank you for your comment, Mimi. I think under certain circumstances, mentally shifting into neutral can help one see more clearly and resolve problems. But that’s just me. Everyone has a method that suits them best.

  6. Irony indeed, that letting one’s self be tossed at the ocean’s will can lead to peace. Love this!
