Tristan and Isolde

She was a fallen leaf
And he was the ground

And the stars allowed
Their circles to meet
For the briefest of time.

She knew purest joy
And blackness of loss

She was a fallen leaf.
And he was her ground.

Maria Callas – Wagner- Tristan und Isolde -Liebestod. This is the first opera I ever saw, and I cried my eyes out. I soon discovered that every opera I see, I cry my out. I really like this, Misky. The artwork is impressive, too! Both work well together.

  5. Tristan and Isolde always make me sad. All the great myths end tragically. Maybe that is why they live on in our hearts: we keep the lovers alive that way. Fantastic image worthy of Tristan and Isolde. The verse is evocative and moving as always.

Perhaps that is why I have my Helen Mayfair say to her Tristan: “To die with you will not be so bad a thing as living without you.”

    1. When I read that phrase, it just tore at my heart. I’ve grown very fond of Richard and Helen. And to think that it might all be dedicated to me, just made me more than humble. ♥️

  6. Perhaps the great lovers have to live out their stories so that those of us with more prosaic tales can be content with our lot…

    1. Perhaps you’re right. It makes us feel secure that tragedy can happen to anyone.
