Ink In Bits
thin skinned leaves are falling
and mum’s fighting gravity
like Godzilla taking on the sky.
I wave goodbye
it’s the first day back to school.
red metal lunch box, a salami sarnie,
and milk money in my pocket.
I’ll buy ice cream
back then,
I’d never heard of a llama,
but I knew A was for aardvark.
And anteater
mum’s talking to me again but
I’m too far away to hear. it’s like
someone’s moving her lips.
I wave goodbye
