20 May: for Unicorn Challenge

AI art: seagulls and people on an English pier at the seaside

Pier’s End

A boy jumps into briny fumes
at the end of the pier, past
the old Brighton Rock shop,

where dissolved sea salt
is a hollow sound of wind,
and where calliope tunes

and foam
mix with past tides
on the pebble beach,

and seagulls juggle the air.

  1. Beautiful, Misky, just beautiful.
    As is the illustration.
Shades of Quentin Blake in the style – I love the lightness of life you express there.

  4. Here in Lake Charles, we see many swirling spirals of egrets and sea gulls caressing the blue skies. Wonderful illustration that draws you in almost as well as your verse. https://rolandyeomans.blogspot.com/2023/05/when-life-knocks-you-down.html
