16 May: dVerse Quadrille

AI Art: an African Grey parrot looking at itself in a mirror

Call Me Dylan

His parrot is
a decent poet. Self-defined
as difficult, and frequently
absent

by intoxication.

Like Dylan Thomas,
fixated on reflection,
his parrot
loves a mirror.

And popping bubblewrap.

His parrot
is a madrigal singer
in need of
a mirror

to see the whole picture.

AI Digital Artwork is my own, created using AI Midjourney. Imagery and poems ©Misky 2023. dVerse Quadrille “Mirror”. This piece is part of a continuing collection of poems about a parrot, which is a chapbook called “Three Weeks with a Parrot Named Sukey Tawdry”.

  2. What is a Chapbook, is it the opposite of chick-lit?
    Most amusing…

    1. No. It’s a small collection of poems that are based on a theme. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chapbook

      1. Thanks for that Misky. I did mean that the poem was amusing…
Were you looking after somebody’s parrot?

        1. 😀 Yes, I understood that, Andrew. No, the whole scenario with the parrot is fiction. I wrote the original poems for the chapbook during the Covid lockdown as part of the Writers’ Digest Chapbook Challenge. It shortlisted, but didn’t win.
