6 April: NaPoWriMo and RDP Day 6

AI artwork: primitive style line drawing and wet watercolour of European city.

A Spoonful of Urban White

In the echoes of distance,
all there, gathered in this milky night,
were destined to sombre lament.

Their footsteps, a river of invading
secrets flooding these gritty streets,
and dazzled by night’s watery lights.

And the milky moon, sharp as a knife
broke through clouds, and then
faded back into echoes again.

A poem written for NaPoWriMo Day 6 which is mined from the sounds of a foreign language poem, namely the Spanish version of “Ciudad” by Fernando Charry Lara, and RDP’s word of the day “cusp” for the moon’s knife edge inspiration. AI Digital Artwork is created using Midjourney. 1. Mining from the sounds of – that’s a very interesting idea and I might print out the other poem to understand it better. The artwork is amazing and I don’t know whether to be worried by the implications…

    1. It’s a familiar method for poets in generating a bit of inspiration. The entire instruction for the method is at the NaPoWriMo (National Poem Write Month) website https://www.napowrimo.net/day-six-10/.
