6 April: A-to-Z Challenge

AI artwork: the eye of a hurricane over water, cloud formation.

E is for the Eye of a Hurricane

It’s theatre. A curtain call.
A wall of flat calm and an eye
into heaven. Fury and deluge.
Then silence, as air falls dead.

It’s short shadow weather, and
the wind does as it pleases.

For A-Z Challenge. Eye of a Hurricane: The relatively calm center in a hurricane that is more than one half surrounded by wall cloud. The winds are light, the skies are partly cloudy or even clear (the skies are usually free of rain) and radar depicts it as an echo-free area within the eye wall. Written for the A-to-Z Challenge. Declared theme for the challenge is Weather. AI Digital Artwork is created using Midjourney. Imagery and poems ©Misky 2023 Shared on Twitter #amwriting #atozchallenge @midjourney @AprilA2Z

  1. It’s certainly theatre, and quite terrifying, I imagine.
Your art is extraordinary. How long does it take to produce such fine work?

    1. Thank you. Sometimes the sequence of words and parameters that I give the AI bot work perfectly, and then it’s a matter of minutes (less than 5). Other times, the bot thinks it knows better, and then it takes longer. Sometimes, you just have to walk away and rethink how to word the command. It’s a bit like ekphrastic poetry; visualising it in your head and then wording it in a way that the bot understands where to focus and should carry less weight.

  2. I tried to join to use Midjourney but it wasn’t offering any free trials and I’m not sure I want to take out a subscription yet…

  5. The first word that came to mind for both the picture and poem:
    Thrilling.

There is something about intense weather.

  6. Your Letter E…timing of post fit in…weatherwise…with the current weather news. “A curtain call” …three words of a scary possibility. Well done paired with the benign “It’s theater”. Once again, a perfect image conjured by technology and your words.

    1. I’m delighted you liked reading it, Sue. Do you have a storm heading your way? We don’t hear much about Texas weather (here in England) unless there’s a catastrophic event.

  7. Lately we have been having quite a few tornados in surrounding states. So far we have been spared. They promise thunderstorms tonight. Hopefully not severe.

It’s fascinating seeing the eye form on radar when you’re watching a hurricane develop.
