Under the Influence

I.
The weather has a temper,
the way two crows quarrel
over a piece of flesh.

It’s the way of things,
Solomon might’ve said,

and I think I’m watching
religion, or maybe I’m under
the influence of weather.

II.
Radio reception’s gone again.
It sounds like six shades of blizzard.
Or cats and clowns hissing at each other.

There’s a girl on telly who wears
weather-girl clothes, and perpetually
blames everything on the weather.

She says each cloud is a new episode.
I say coo-coo-cachoo to that.

  1. Top notch writing. “and I think I’m watching
    religion” Old Testament, I think.

  2. This is great! The end made me smile. The eggman, the walrus and the weathergirl.

  3. Never trust a weather girl, especially if she’s kicking Edgar Allan Poe.

  5. I’m not fond of weather forecasters they get paid a lot of money and are almost always wrong in their fire ads at least where I live. 😂
