24 January: An Imagist Poem

AI art: room with window, desk, chair, wildflowers in a jase.

It’s Ideal

It’s small because
it has to be small.

Room for a cup of coffee, and her feet.

Corner view.
Two sash windows.
Third floor.

A wide window sill
for wildflowers.
Jam jar for a vase.

Desk.
Chair.
Lamp.

Rattling traffic.
The overground.
Horns,

and a clattering radiator.

Heels and trainers.
Coats and brollies.
Into the wind

A rabble of litter.
A newsagents’ debris.
A chippy and a dΓΆner kebab.

Her coat hangs
from a brass hook
on the door.

The scene is set.

  2. Is this the same as an ‘ekphrastic poem’, Misky? ❀

      1. Oh, it’s very precise and colloquial all right Misky! πŸ‘πŸ˜ And that’s what makes so enjoyable. Setting the scene in as little and exact language as possible! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘ŒπŸ˜πŸ˜
