21 Nov: Q & NovPAD Day 21

young woman packing her suitcase

PA: use these words:  button, gather, hold, not, sweep, toxic
I.
A Clean Break

She will march like the sun
back into her own name,
gather how many things
her suitcase will hold.

It happens.
Mistakes.
It happens.
Like blunt knives and bent forks.
She’s leaving him,
but not before she makes the bed
and sweeps the floor.

It’s her last toxic response
to his fleeting hot eyes.

Quickly:  special talent
II.
How Sharp?

So sharp
It’ll slice a sheet a paper.

So sharp
You won’t feel its cut.

So sharp
You’ll not know your finger’s missing.

So sharp
Wind whistles off its edge.

So sharp
Are my knives.

        1. I’m a recipe tester, so knowing how to properly sharpen a knife with a whetstone is as necessary as an apron. 😂

  3. Gah.
“She will march like the sun
    back into her own name”

I did that, in 1991, after just 10 months of (hell) marriage.
That first piece hit me right in the gut and heart, Misky. Brilliant.
