15 Nov: NovPAD Day 15

Paris cafe

I.
Just Another (Thoughtless) Memory

I remember the sky
was a loud shock of blue,
the plastic table and chairs,
an indifferent white.

We aren’t talking.
I can’t remember why.

But you sit there,
and watch me cry
as you throw yourself
into one last battle.

I remember sitting under
troubled sky, the wind blowing
blowing us out.

II. (a thoughtful haiku)

Rain whips the bare trees
The last leaves nag at branches
We sip tea with milk

  1. Especially like the detachment so very well expressed in the opener. Very successful write.

    1. I’ve bounced back and forth all day, Ron. Should it be “blowing us out” or “blowing us apart”?

      1. I’d go with “apart” but I must say “blowing us out” caught my attention (not in a bad way, either, so…)

        1. Then I’ll go with “out” as it caught your attention. Thanks.
