Say Something
We’re eating breakfast,
and can I hear
the clock tick.
You have to say something, I say.
I’ve interrupted his
bread and cheese, and he says
in that way he has about him,
Something.
Why?
And I tell him I have to
write something.
With dialogue.
He finishes his coffee,
licks his fingers, and then
just grins at me.

God help me, I do love this man.

Oh this is gorgeous. I know nothing about this man but that grin at the end. I can just see it. You have written the absence of dialogue exquisitely. I think that’s a whole skill on its own.

😂 Yes, well, this didn’t quite go to plan, but that’s often the way when Mr M is involved. There’s always to twist in there somewhere.

You do non-dialogue with such nonchalance! 😂
